  • Please send your gingerbread house donations in by Wednesday at the very latest. We will purchase items we are missing. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the activity, join us in the classroom on Thursday at 1:30 pm.
  • Would you like to come in and share your family’s holiday tradition? Please send me an email if you are interested in sharing artifacts or foods that are unique to your family during the winter season. I would like to schedule families to share at the end of the day (3pm?)
  • This week is we are encouraging students to do and record random acts of kindness. Please use the paper in your child’s folder to record acts of kindness through out the week.
  • Our winter assembly has been changed to Friday at 9:15am. K-4th parents are welcome to attend.

This week we will read Gingerbread Pirates. We will identify story elements such as characters, setting, character development and author’s purpose. We will use the book to make predictions and inferences. Students will continue to identify character traits that support a growth mind set and perseverance. We will enjoy additional gingerbread themed books this week.

Sight Words: has, any, her, two, him

We are well into How-To writing. Students brainstormed things they knew how to do. This week we will work on writing what materials are needed and detailed step-by-step instructions. We will put our writing in booklets at the end of the week.

This week, we will focus on easy facts like +0 and +1 facts. We will learn about doubles facts and facts with a sum of 10. We will play fishing for 10 and domino top-it.

We will continue to discuss family traditions. We will read a Time for Kids: It’s Party Time. In science we will use a tuning fork to see sound vibrations in action. We will discuss loud and soft sounds and go on a Listening Walk outside.
