This week we will read The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires. We will identify story elements such as characters, setting, character development and author’s purpose. We will use the book to make predictions and inferences. Students will continue to identify character traits that support a growth mind set and perseverance.. We will review ABC order and antonyms. We will work on the short e word family. We will also review syllables.

Last week we started our unit on All About Writing. We brainstormed a list of ideas of topics we know a lot about and began planning using a planning web. We will discuss the difference between opinions and facts.


This week, we will continue with unit 5 in math. We will use pennies and dimes to represent numbers and discuss place value. We will learn about the symbols for greater than, less than and equal to and use them to compare numbers. We will start number scrolls and talk more about patterns in place value.


In science we will read “Listen to This” and “Animal Ears and Hearing.” We will discuss volume and pitch. We will read Time for Kids :Wheelchair Racer.
